Default Aerodynamics

You hear a lot about the weight of the different models but what about aerodynamics? Which is best for high speed races between an LX or GT, 4-eye or later model? How much difference is there between the choices? Also, what can be done to improve this? i.e. headlight covers, lowering the car... Does anyone know the drag coefficient of various models? And yes I tried a search with no results.

Lets say you lived near a no traffic wide open interstate with no on or off ramps for miles, and most guys go from 40mph to 150mph or so. All weights being equal, which model do you want?

I would think an '85-'86 hatchback with flush mounted headlight covers would be the most aerodynamic foxbody.

Yeah, don't let the body kit and the spoiler on the GT's fool you, they actually create drag on the car. The LX gets my vote.

On the 4-eye models I believe there is some kind of flush headlight adapter thing that can help with aerodynamics. Someone with a 4-eye might be able to give more information on that though.

O.K. So i've heard the 94/95 are heavier. How about the 94/95 versus the 79/93 fox body?

Well, I race a 91 GT, and am now DD'ing my 94GT. I love both cars, the 94 is slightly heavier (like 125lbs.) but the 94 makes up for the extra weight with it's handling and much more comfortable interior. I will see how the 94 handles with some horses under the hood when I get my 331 finished.

Overall I love both cars, they are both a lot of fun to drive, and both look awesome. Can't go wrong with any 80's+ mustang.
