Less back pressure = less torque...

Several members have experienced this when cutting the tailpipes off.
have you dealt w. this before? personally?

its easy to go... well my buddy noticed this... or so in so noticed that... but im telling you 1st hand... my car if anything broke the tires loose easier... from full stock exhaust to o/r h pipe, and dumped flows...

that extra few feet of tail pipe really isnt giving you much more back pressure cats, or lack there of, and muffler design will

Yes I have personally experienced this on my fitty, on my old 91 sierra, my cuz's stang, and thats just personally (and temporary). The extra few feet (what 3-4) is enough to make a difference. The entire inside of the pipe causes fricton as the air gets pushed through it. Also, it is the same reason that tailpipes are quieter than dumps, its not because dumps "echo" under the car, but the friction in the pipe with the bends will quiet down the exhaust with pressure.
This may not be the case with real beefed up engines that need to breath, but it is the case with stock to mildely modified setups.

A few weeks back therewere like 3 guys on here that took their pipes off and posted about their significant loss of tq.

Come on guys... who's willing to back me up on this?

i went from 3 chamber flows with tails to dumps, no difference, since then, my cars idle quality and power has gone to hell, i need to run codes, and all that ****, but there was NO difference

i did not realize at the time how quiet it would be, im tempted to gut them... or buy something ***** out loud

people ask my dad why the mach is so loud, and he responds "so i can always hear it" IMO the louder the better

and the difference in torque isnt going to be noticeable, its all in your head

You will typically feel it most right at off-idle... just as you are slowly accelerating, its almost like a delayed reaction from the engine. Yes, at higher rpms. it will seem as there is more power, because it will flow more.

But it's hard to explain the feeling (no, it's not all in your head), but thats the best I can explain it. At low throttle, it feels a bit delayed and you just get a bit of a drone, then it picks up.

Depends on the muffler/ midpipe selection you choose. I have the same setup as dimebag, only with 3" turndowns, and it kicks *** compared to the pipes. But the question was "dumps", meaning the actual muffler setup, not turndowns, right?

Same thing... dumps=turndowns. Cutting tailpipes off or just open mufflers are going to (or should) react the same as dumps (but i guess would not technically be considered dumps)...

lol, im crazy and normally, when i want power, dump the clutch at 2 grand or more, a little off idle torque loss isnt going to bother me

but like i said, im 99 percent positive my car isnt running at full numbers
