If it is hard to push you could have a bad cable. You could also have a bad pressure plate.

Steeda Adjustable Clutch Cable

Steeda's new adjustable clutch cable part number 172-0201 is designed specifically to be a direct bolt-on to 1996 and newer Mustangs. Most adjustable cables up until now were designed for the older "fox body" Mustang. While they would work on the newer cars, some extra work was required to complete the installation. Steeda's new cable has the correct mounting bracket and length for a perfect no-hassle fit on 1996 through 2004 Mustang GT, Bullit, and Cobra. Like all Steeda clutch cables, this cable features a stainless steel inner cable and low friction lining, along with a high-durometer bushing at the firewall for improved clutch response and cable life. Clutch engagement height can be adjusted by turning a nut at the end of the cable when the cable is used in combination with Steeda’s aluminum quadrant

When I first bought my car it had something like a 60+lb clutch cable. After that snapped, I later found out that it got caught in the frame relatively close to the front axle. This could possibly be your problem, but I'd get a new one too if I were you (First, check on ebay just in case).

unless its the cable binding a hard cluch is a good cluch, in my oppion (assuming its not somthing stuck or binding that is causing to to be stiff) i have an duel friction cluch in mine with a very strong pressure plate, it takes some effort to push the pedal. wich makes it realy suck for traffic but i like it
