Default 408 into a 4cyl carburated

me and a buddy set out to build a drag car. naturally the best choice was the foxbody so we picked up screwed up 4 banger with the intensions to put a stroked out 351 in it. Here is the plan we want to run at least 10's with drag radials with the 408 what is all required I was going to run a carburated setup to simplify the swap. my buddy has a 5.0 that he crashed that I can use as a parts car. I was going to get a whole 351 buy a 408 stroker kit then assemble with 302 heads ported to a gasket match, a more aggressive cam, a new intake manifold, new carb and the biggest shot of nitrous that this engine will safely take. I was wondering what cam and intake carb (what cfm/brand) to buy money is a factor cheaper is better as long as the parts are reliable. how much power should I be making/ will this block support with cast vs forged cranks etc. how much nitrous can I run. what else will I need to change I heard the rear end would be a good swap from the 5.0 to the 2.3 car. also I want to transfer as litttle of the parts from the 5.0 to the 5.8 as possible can I keep the accessories from the 351. also I'll be using a t5 tranny. hopefully this makes sense ask away if I am unclear about something.

I see some problems with your goal vs combo so.......cheap reliable 10 sec car on stock ported 302 heads on a 408 stroker with a t-5 tranny???[sm=WTFsgign.gif] man your gonna suffacate that 408 with 302 heads... besides you'd have to drill them out to accept 1/2 head bolts to work on a 351 block....it'll die before it hits ten sec and the NOS will shoot right back out the carb trying to force it's way through the 302 heads[:@]

patriots have excellent flow numbers and are like 850 or so from one of the sponsors here, or for cheaper you can pick up a set of GT40P heads for 6 or 7 hundred all worked up and ready to go (its SO worth the extra for the patriots though)

A race 408 will require good heads, and you definately don't want to go cheap, unless you like driving a hand grenade down the track. And a stock T5 prolly won't last very long under that kinda power

To go 10s you've got a bunch of saftey equipment to buy if the track you run at is strict on the rules. Off the top of my head you are going to need a 6 point roll bar, 5 point seat belts, Snell rated helmet, and afire jacket. If you are going to cheap out on anything I wouldn't do it on the heads. Carb size has a lot to do with rpm and engine cubic inch. A 750 Holley double pumper (or larger)is a great carb for that cubic inch engine with the rpm you are going to be turning. I would get a Victor Jr. or an equivilant open plenum style intake. You are going to have to spend some money in the transmission and clutch as well as thesuspension to hook something like that up. Don't forget about the rear either. I'm not sure but I think after 11.49 you have to have aftermarket axles, c-clip eliminators, and a blow proof bellhousing.Just a few things to think about.
