Default Need help with top end decision.

First of all I am putting a Vortech S-trim kit on my 94 GT here soon (within the month). I am complimenting it with a 90mm MAF, 60lbs injectors, 255lph fuel pump, and a SCT chip for the tune. I was just going to put it on my stock long block but with these new Patriot heads, it may be in my budget for a top end rebuild as well. My power goals are 400+ whp. I was thinking on getting the patriot heads and just bolting them on with a cobra GT40 intake. I really don't want to dig into the block and pull the cam out. I am just looking for something fairly quick and straight forward to install that allows better flow over the crappy E7's.

My question is, am I waisting my time doing the heads and not the cam? If I can reach my power goal without the cam, I'd rather keep the stock idle and such as well. Would adding a set of 1.7rr's help out with my stock cam? Thanks.

yes you will need to change the cam or it will run like crap i would suggest calling comp and they can get you a cam that will do what you want.

no the stock cam is not a bad cam, but if you want the most you can get i would recommed changing the cam. also 60's are to big 42's will be plenty

You might as well do the cam, its cheap and will give a nice power increase.

I was told to go straight to 60lb injectors by Bob Kurgan, Should I do otherwise?

With a stock engine you will not be able to boost enough to suffice a 60# injector.

The stock cam is really good for superchargers, but like was stated, if you want MAX power, a cam swap is suggested. But you don't have to. It would still net you big numbers. 1.7's won't really help much.

Here here. 42#injectors, and the cam is great bang for te buck. However if only shooting for 400hp, don't worry about getting the heads. You will far excede that mark with just a blower.

You really think I could see 400whp with the stock long block and boost? How? I was under the impression that most long blocks with a vortech were seeing between 300-330whp.

About the 60lb injectors, I thought that was a bit too big as well so I asked Bob Kurgan about them and this was what he emailed me. Should I go with the 60's?

"
Look at it this way… if you buy 42lbs inj, you will be out of injectors before too long… that’s why I recommend going straight to 60s… your fuel system will be maxed before the injectors and the price difference is so minimal, it makes sense.. Plus, the 60s are probably the best “bigger” injector for idle and drivability… I have cars that get 25+mpg with 60s. Thanks"

Ive heard the Steeda 19 grind is a good blower cam for your year of car.

As far as putting a blower on your car, you dont want to bottle neck it
