Default low coolant light? Help?

I saw my radiator was leaking, so i bought a new one and replaced it. now i crank my engine back up and let it warm up and sure enough the low coolant light is still on.

Does anyone think it is the water pump or thermostat?

I don't know what the problem is. Once the engine warms up it starts to run hot.

are you sure its full of coolant? Especially after installing a new radiator and introducing air pockets into the system.

sounds like air pockets, and the sensors can go bad

ya..id agree with the air..i just changed my coolant and i had some air in after i got done. same thing happened to me when i did my intake manifold swap. what i had to do was start the car let it get hot..not full up the gauge but like 3/4..then not take the radiator cap off but just crack it n ull hear the air coming out...put your coolant in the over flow tank and after repeatedly doing this it will finally take it in...least thats what worked for me

You do know the low coolant sensor is in your overflow bottle right? Is that topped off? If yes, the sensor maybe bad. Unplug it or jump the connection and the light should go out.

How hot is running a lil hot. Stock or aftermarket gauge? W/ the car running and the cap off, at operating temp can you see the coolant flowing in the radiator? What type of radiator did you buy for the replacement?

i was able to get the coolant light off....and then engine seems to be running back to normal temparature wise. I took the car out to test everything and the low coolant light came back on. I know the coolant sensor is in the overflow tube. when i got back i noticed that there was no coolant in the overflow tube.

how much coolant is needed to be put back into the system when u change the radiotor? I have used about 1.5 gallons so far.

more than that?

If the overflow tank is not leaking, keep on refilling it, the radatior will pull what coolant it needs out of it until its full, granted everything is working right.

With the car completly cool, fill the raditor and the over flow tank to the proper levels. Leave the cap off and start it, let it warm up a little and push the air bubbles out. Run your heater, too. Now all the air should be displaced, and the radatior and such should be full.
