Default tranny question??

i got an 86 lx and its a 5 speed. the shift from 4th to 5th is really really short. i mean i have to shift fast to catch it in time.. it only drops 200rpms. now do u guys with 5.0s have the same drop in rpm? i wonder is my tranny has been overhauled....all gears shift perfect and it looks original

its possible that someone put a 4 cyl tranny in there.. those have a much higher overdrive than the stock tranny.
