Default best "off the shelf" cam for my application?

hey, what would be the best "off the shelf" cam for my application? it needs to be smog legal in ca. looking for good mid-top end power. also needs to be available through summit racing (got a gift card)

my setup: 94 5.0 w/ gt-40 cobra heads, 95 cobra intake, fms headers, k+n w/o silencer, catback with flows, orx pipe, bbk pullies, 3.73's, autocom clutch, short shifter, fms suspension. i think thats it.

ask jay or ed i think its like a 50 buck service. noone here will know for sure what cam is best for you. i mean we can say this cam will work. but will it meet the emissions that your asking will clear ptv?

i mean you could check out summitracing and try and find a cam with there cam selection and try and narrow it down for your needs

as a loose estimate i would say something in the TFS stage 1 range (do you have better springs on those heads? thats gonna hold you back if you dont)

I would steer away from that cam on a 94 or it will create idle quality issues...your real concern since you have a 94 will be choosing a cam that will allow the 94 ecm which is quite sensitive to such changes to adapt to such a change.....best bet in your case will be a steeda #19 which will be emission friendly and give a good idle quality without having to have it tuned out via a custom burnt chip.....trust me I know..I put a tfs stage 1 in a 94 and had to deal with the idle concerns it created

a proper tune should help with these idle concerns. i had a MUCH larger cam than the tfs 1 untuned and the idle problems were not that bad. if i let it warm up completely every time most of the time it idle just fine sitting in traffic
my cam was 560/576 300/310 110
