hey guys, i was working on my stang in my garage today and an old friend happend to drive by my house and seen me. he stopped by and we talked for a while about the 306 that i am gonna put in my 1990 gt. he said he bought a set of 3.73's and a deluxe install kit (with the wheel bearings) for his 2001 gt, but he traded that one in for a 04 cobra. he said he'll sell me the gears and install kit for $200. everything is brand new. i just wanted to know if my 1990 rear end is the same a 2001? will the install kit be the same as well? if so, i'm probably gonna get it when my tax return comes in, which should be in a week or two.

$200 hmm.. i dunno if thats really a deal i think they run around $189 unless there not a well known brand

They're the same 8.8 rear end...go for it, that's a little less than getting it all your self.

he said he got them from summit. the gears are $189 like you said and the deluxe install kit is $120, according to the catalog. i figured it'll be like getting the install kit for free.

It is not a steal but at least you got them, I got mine for less than a $100.00 (3.73) and $225.00 for the installation. I love them! good luck man!
