YES you will need to make a 9/16 hole in the oil pan and add a drain line from the supercharger

Not really a big deal to do. The instructions tell you where to punch, etc. You don't even have to pull the pan. The need for the line is because the Vortech unit uses engine oil to lube the blower unit. A good system for blower life. Others, like some Paxtons have internal oil supply. Gotta change it regularly. I THINK I read that the Paxton Novi uses engine oil like the Vortech.

Notice I said "punch" not drill. You use a big hammer and a sharp metal punch. This pushs the metal, not convert it to shavings. Also gives a nice big sealing surface for the fitting. Its been 7 or 8 years since I did one, but seems like I remember coating with grease when installing the first time. That way the tapingmetal sticks there rather than dropping into the pan. As far as changing your oil? It's always smart to do that whenever you do major engine work.

I have a paxton novi 1000 and the directions said to use a 1/8 drill bit to start the hole, I coated it in heavy grease to catch all the metal shavings, then you use the punch they suppply, and open up the hole, then you get a tap, and make some threads in the hole you just made. just make sure you coat anything that is going inside the pan is heavily coated in grease to catch the filings. and it is a good idea to change the oil after too.

oh, heres a tip, after you drill the small hole, get a coathanger and make sure the crankshaft isnt going to get hit with the punch your using to open the hole.
