Default 331 or 408

I cant decide between the two. I just want a good streetable and reliable car. I was thinking about boost in the future and from some of thepost here, the 331 seems great for that. Just making the 351 fuel injection seems to be expensive. But anyways what do yall here think about fordstrokers.com ?

fordstrokers is an awesome company.
wont hear anything bad about them here.
but not many people will agree with the 331 they'll all say 347.
and i believe a 347/331 is more streetable then a 408.

ctgreddy, say ur sig, get a 3500-3800stall, just a suggestion.

anyways, a 408 can be just as streetable as a 302 stroker, all depends on what you can tolerate and how the motor is setup. if you can keep it cool, run pump gas, afford the gas, keep from stalling it at lights, then go w/ the 408. i went 331, i should be happy for a while, but a 408 will prob be my next motor.

your definition of streetable will be different from someone else.

for instance i went to a dyno day a couple weekends ago. there was a 68 (i think) camaro with a bigblock poked and stroked, no accessories except for alt had a full cage and tubbed and he was calling his street car

Driveability can be the same between the 2. The displacement alone will Not effect driveability.
Its all in compression, cam, and heads. Determine your powerband you want, then chose the proper parts.
If you went 408 with good parts, i dont think you would boost it at all, you will be happy.
Not saying the 331 is bad either.
your call

well 408 over 331 is pretty obvious.....

why do i like the strokers that arent so extreme? the rod/stroke ratios and piston speeds are better in the smaller combos IMO, i know the newer 347's have better wrist pin / oil ring locations on the pistons so thats really not an issue.

Why does R:S is brought as a bad thing?....... There are stock/OEM setups that have proven to be more than reliable, and long lasting, than the 347 or 427 variety..... including I4 and I6 commercial oriented engines.
