Default Overheating

My car is overheating really bad[:@], but i was just wondering when it does it will it kill the car. Because when it happens i will lose oil pressure and then it will die. What could some of the problems be. Thermostat? Radiator? Water Pump?

if it is the t-stat it will heat up right away , look at the water pumr if it is leeking that is your prolbem . if it takes a little bit t to heat up and does not coll off when your driving and not realy stoping then it might be the rad is clogged . take it to a rad shop it is a $40.00 job to flush it and the DIY flush kit is not the same as the rad shop. also check timming that could cause it , and a lean air/fuel mix will do it also

As for the oil if it drops when the car is stallin your cool , 90% shure EEC-4 will not shut off when it is to hot. But I could be wrong

Get a 180 Deg. Thermostat no colder than that my car over heated bad last summer I just replaced everything got a ford racing radiator, waterpump, and thermostat. The waterpump looked like crap when it came out not to mention my radiator was reall clogged and my thermostat was original so i just replaced all of the components. I have heard of people going with 160 but i wouldnt go lower than 180 because a car needs to warm up if you run it that low at 160 it shortens engine life or cylinder head life I would go with a 180 degree unit.

yeah this is the stock radiator and waterpump, so i think i will just go through and replace all that s*$%. the only thing i dont understand is that when i first start it up, oil pressure is at like 50psi and when i drive it and it gets hot it drops to about 20 to 15, is this because it is overheating or is it another problem?

FAIL SAFE T-STAT

when they berak they break open , Not closed like the others do , could save your heads some day worth the $15.00

TRICK
drill two holes around the body of the stat about 1/8 " makes filling up the collant system easyer

I like the 195 in a stock engin
