Default volts gauge bouncing at idle ?

When i come to a stop my volts gauge starts bouncing and the car acts like it wants to die,so i rev it and its fine, when i stop reving it starts tripping again. Last night I, turned the radio off and the dimmer switch, and it made it home fine with out tripping,I had to stop two more times.
What am i looking at? Thanks

get and alt test done and see if its putting out the right voltage and amps. does your car start up fine after you turn it off?

its either your alternator, udp's causing a problem, faulty battery, or voltage regulator. Luckily the battery and alt you can get tested for free and if its under drive pullies causing the problem, you should only notice the problem at idle/slow speeds.

My guess is you have under drive pullies and the alt isnt giving the battery enough charge at idle/slow speeds and you should upgrade to a 3g alt. This also is bad on the battery and can give them dead cells very quickly because they are being drained to very low levels and then very high levels often.

its not the only way to go, but it is the best way to go thats for sure . Does your shop do the 3g alt swap for the foxes or not because of the slight modification? I know some shops are strict on only using specific parts.

3g alternator is an alternator that is more powerful and fits our cars with a little shaving of the bracket they came in the newer sn stangs. If you dont know what it is, i doubt you have one unless you dont know much about the car. How long have you had the car?
