Neons have a bad headgasket problem on a stock motor, I can only imagine what the inside of that thing will look like after a few months of supercharging, unless you do some beefy head / block work. Then again, why go through all that trouble on a NEON of all things

Well just to shove it in your face a little more I know 3 other people with Srt-4s and they have not had any problems at all. Where are you hearing this about them breaking down or whatever ?

Neons Neons Neons Neons in general. Ask anybody who turns wrenches for a living. Maybe the "srt-4" doesn't have the problems a typical Neon has, but then again whose to say it doesn't? So what your friend hasn't had any problems... I know 3 people with regular Neons too that never had to change a headgasket, but that doesnt mean they ALL are like that. Go right ahead and believe ONLY what you know around you, but if you don't gather information from as many sources as possible your gonna make alot of poor decisions in your life.</P>

ya, and are any of those over 100k, maybe even 75k, hell...even 50k miles? im not saying theyre lemons from the factory, but they wont last forever. ever notice how many 302's and 350's and such get rebuilt...then compare it to any I4 and then you'll understand why i call them disposable

It appears to me you guys have no idea what an SRT-4 is. hardly a part on that car is from a stock neon. the engine is completely different from the oil pan to the air box. just because it's a 2.4 DOHC doesnt mean it's a SXT motor with a turbo. the entire rotating assembly, crank rods pistons are all forged, and very strong. if you did any reading you'll find numerous article and spec sheets, and if you bothered to read the spec sheet you'd see things such as the compression ratio and type of material used to build the motor, and know it wasnt an ordinary neon engine. details of what they did to this car can be extensive. SCC ripped apart the motor and was very impressed by what they found. im thinking about trading my mustang in for one, i wish i hadn't passed up the opportunity to order one last year. those cars are going to hold up for a long time, they're quick, and as more parts become available they will only get faster.

Neons are like snap together plastic puzzle pieces... I know, my parents bought me one in high school. And if your gonna trade in your mustang to drive a neon, I dont care what kind, then... well Imma be nice.

again, they are completely different from the ground up than a normal neon. what part of that is so difficult to understand? mustangs aren't exactly the best built engines themselves. especially, mine for example. the first SOHC modulars aren't terribly impressive performers, and the bottom ends aren't that strong.
