It depends on the cam really, if you have to notch or not. Im looking at 185's and an F cam.

get the 165's. i have them, they are great. took a full second off my quarter mile time. the 185's are for a larger engine. 165's are great for the 302. you dont need any piston notching and you dont have to do anything to the bottom end. i didnt do either of these things. the 165's are supposed to be a direct bolt in replacement. i did have to buy new valve covers though to clear my new roller rockers. if you get the stud mount heads, you will need to buy roller rockers and new push rods so keep that in mind. i dont recomend getting the pedistal mount heads

when all was said and done i put about $2000 into my car with my heads.
165's=$1300
24# injectors=$200
maf recalibration=$35
roller rockers=$200
pushrods=$70
gaskets=more then i wanted but cant remember. i need a new head gasket and intake manifold gasket

you dont have to get bigger injectors buy i did sense my 19#ers litteraly fell apart in my hands as i took them out.
So Im going to be spending a lot more than 2,000 with 185's, injectors, F cam, intake manifold and a rebuild kit it looks like, what do you think?

i would go with the 165's myself bc i think they are the ones im going to get. you should be a 300 rwhp with the heads.
i didnt see that you changed your MAF and if you havent then change that and it will make a huge difference and maybe a CAI too

the 185's flow more air and are better for forced induction

the 185's use 2.02" diameter intake valves and the 165's use 1.90" intake valves. go to http://www.airflowresearch.com/ and you can find out all you need to know about the AFR heads.
stock 5.0 pistons don't have valve reliefs large enough to handle the 2.02" valves in the AFR 185 heads so I would stay with the 165's to be safe.
