Default pulled head

so today i pulled my drivers side valve cover off to adjust a rocker. now i look at it it says 351 on the right side and on the left a 4 digit casting number cant remember it it was 3g**. so this makes me think about whether its a 302 or 351w. it has a burnt exhaust valve and i need to get that fixxed. i was gunna swap for e4 or gtp40 heads but now im wondering it that will work.

I dont know about the casting number but gt40 or any ford 5.0 head is interchangeable between 5.8, it might turn out that your 5.0 has 351 heads, difference between a 302 and a 351 is the deck height of the block.

well whats your reccomendation then? find the same head and just replace that side or find 2 different ones and swap them both. and right now i have roller rockers in them. would it be a good idea to swap those over to the new head?

Why not just replace the cooked valve?

it depends on your budget, and what you want to do with your car. Do you want it back up and running again? just take the head to a machine shop and have em do a valve job. Id do more research on the heads you have on now maybe they are ported etc.

i'd also check the block numbers and see what you are actually looking with.

the windsor heads are reversible. You can use two drivers side heads on a car, or two passenger side heads. If you compare the left & right head, they are both 100% identical.

Just find out what head is on it & if it's had any work done to it, then replace it. If it appears to have work done, replace them both.
