need eliminator brackets?
I am removing my AC compressor and my smog pump and wondering do I want to get the eliminator brackets for both of them to keep the belt length? If I don't get the brackets won't the belt be rotating too quickly and cause probs? Thanks in advance.

RE: need eliminator brackets?
you only need an eliminator bracket for the ac, i suggest the FMS one as it looks better than all the others and it works better, as for the smog pump all you need is to run a shorter belt to solve that problem

This is the one I bought for the AC removal (Powered by Ford $39), you have to do something here to make sure you clear the water pump on the way back, this kit moves the PS pump up higher. For the smog, just remove and use shorter belt. Shorer belt does not turn anything faster, the speed of turning is based on pulley sizes.

fill me in here, when you use an elimator bracket how dose that help with power?? it is just a pullie like the a/c pump is, it only pulls when the a/c is on? so i would say it is the samething, to make power you reall just need a shorter belt if possable, and the smog pump dont matter to me it has to stay here.

thanks for the info...i take it the ac bracket is needed just to run the belt the correct way. Do new pulleys really worth it? And don't they cause probs with the water pump?
Where did you get that kit?

RE: need eliminator brackets?
When you eliminat the AC or smog pump, the engine does not make more power, you just have more available to go to the wheels (so RWHP increases) because you are not using it to run the AC or smog pump. Both eliminations has 2 options, add idle pulley in place of what is being removed (uses same belt) or no idle pulley and use different belt. The best AC eliminator does not have a replacment pulley, it just moves the PS pump up to the AC location (use different belt). On the smog pump you have 2 options, add pulley (uses same belt) or just remove pump and use different belt.

I would rather go with no pulley for the a/c. Is it a pain in the butt to move the power steering pump up there?

RE: need eliminator brackets?
i have a question along the lines of removing the a/c out of my car so i figured i would just use this thread instead of making a new one. anyway, my question is, what do i do with the connections that go to the heater core from that little black canister on the firewall? i already took off all the lines as well as the condenser in front of the radiator, should i put up or block those connections since they will not be in use, or can i just leave them as they are?
