Default Professional Products vs. C&L

Hey all, I have a new question. I am in the market for a new MAF and TB and was wondering what is the best. I have heard a few good things about the Pro-M MAF. It comes in black plastic or Chrome, and includes all new electronics for 239.99. Is this a good Deal? I dont need the new electronics, so I was thinking about going with the C&L 76MM MAF with the big 3" inlet piping. Is there any advantage to this and will if fit on the stock Throttle Body?

As for the new Throttle Body, I was thinking about going with a 70MM BBK with a 70MM EGR spacer. I have heard a lot of good things about the BBK products and have used a couple (CAI & Headers) and they seem to be of good quality. If anyone could touch on a few key points in this post, I would appreciate it.

Sorry it is so long, and thanks for the replies in advance.

3" is 75MM. I am running PRO-M. I also have a combo for sell. I want to sell the meter and injectors together. The meter is PRO-M 75MM Chrome Bullit, the injectors are 24# Cobra injectors. $225 plus delivery.

That's a good price, but I dont need 24# injectors, and I would rather buy a new MAF. Thanks for the offer though..

Pro-M uses electronics to fool the ECM, where as C&L uses sampling tubes. So with the Pro-M you do need to use the included electronics it comes with. I had a C&L 73mm and it caused all kinds of issues, I put the stock unit back on and the car runs great with no performance difference at all. I would say unless you putting 400-450hp at the rear tires, the aftermarket MAF isn't worth the hassle. The MAF becomes a bottle neck around 400-450hp...

First off I would like to say thanks for the reply.

Secondly, I dont understand your logic. Improving air flow into a normally aspirated engine is not going to hinder performance, rather it will improve performance. The only way I see the stock MAF to work okay is if you have some kind of forced induction, this is also the ONLY way you would make 400-450HP out of a 302, it is just not logical.

You said not to get a MAF unless you are making 400-450HP, then you stated that if you are making 400-450HP the MAF acts as a bottle neck? That makes absolutely no sence. I think you got a bad unit or something, because more air means more power, and a bigger MAF allows more air into the engine, even with the stock 60MM TB. The reason for this being that your stock MAF is calibrated to a 58mm TB and 14lb. Injectors. If you get a new unit, that is 70-73-75-76-80 what ever, and have it calibrated for 19lb. injectors, your engine is going to perform better. Check your info, and maybe try a new MAF?

id first like to say, birdman has no idea what hes talking about.
the stock maf is the worst thing to keep in your car. if you do only one mod, make it the maf. that thing is rediculously small. 50-55mm if i recall. if you keep the stock maf, a new tb, manifold, heads, etc. will never work any where near their full potential.

i say go with the C&L. i have the 76mm and it works great. i orrigianlly got it for my 19#ers and then recalibrated it to my new 24#ers and have had no problems. i also run professional products manifold, egr, and tb

I ordered the new Pro-M 75mm MAF.... I have heard some good things about them and i needed the electronics... I have also heard that switching the electronics makes a big difference in the way everything flows and the Air/Fuel mixture... The only upside i see to the C&L vs. the Pro-M is the price, but you also have to take into consideration the Pro-M comes with brand new finely tuned electronics (unlike the C&L which uses stock electronics)... My vote goes to the Pro-M...
