Default stock cam

Ok i searched and could not find an answer. What is the stock camshafts specifications? Also what would 1.7 rr's put it at? Would it be worth getting 1.7's with afr 165's with the stock cam and intake? Thanks in advance.

.444 i believe, and with a 1.7 rocker would be .472

has anyone ever tried using 1.7's on the exhaust only? i wonder how that would fair against 1.7's on all (you know, for that "dual pattern" effect)

the stock cam with AFR 165 heads has been shown to make very good power. I beleive the test was something like AFR 165s, 1.7 rockers, stock cam, and some sort of carb setup and it made a lil over 400hp on a 5.0. Here's the article: http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...dup/index.html

My opinion however is since everything is already all apart anyway you might as well through a mild cam in there and pick up some extra HP.

Just reread your first post, I would do everything in your power to not use the stock intake, pick up an explorer intake at least or you won't benefit nearly as much with the heads.

That article is nuts... make me wonder why more of us have not used that set up for a guaranteed 400 ponies...

Wow, every time I read something like this, I start re-thinking my new build. I don't have AFR's,but I have brand new Twisted Wedge heads. I have an Explorer intake, but I'm second guessing myself and thinking of going with a performer/carb combo, along with a TFS Stage 1 cam (I already have 1.6 FRPP rollers for the new heads).380 - 400hp at the flywheel, I could live with that!.The only thingI can't do is the Tri-Y headers (I have an AOD)

stock cam is something close to 211/211 at .050 and .444/.444 lift 115 lsa

i say somethingclose to because their not all exact...

1.7s will make it .472/.472

stock cam ISNT bad at all...

as for running half and half w. the rockers... tough to say if it will be worth it for your set up, just kinda have to try and see... might benifit from 1.7s on both i and e

What size engine are those Twisted wedge heads going on? If it's not a 302 I'd consider going with something larger.

Stock Block 89 302 with 150,000 miles on it. If it goes, I'll probablyreplace it with a 331 short block.
