Default Where to bolt up to on motor w/ hoist.

I'm looking at pulling the motor (302) very soon, was wanting to know where you guys would recommend attaching the hoist lines to on the motor?

typically, they have hooks on the headers for them.

I use a thin chain on each header with botls and nut on an engine sling with manual crank.

Well, I dont have any hooks or brackets...completely custom setup. Below is what I have to work with on the front driver/side. I was think about just bolting up to one of the bell housing bolts and maybe to the alternator bracket. Also, maybe wrapping the chain around #4 & 5 exhaust mani pipes. If you guys have any other suggestions, let me know.

How about using 4 good bolts, one in each head, run them through two lengths of sturdy chain(saw a guy using chain no bigger than swag) and run a hook through where the two chains meetor use aload leveler(best)

I lifted mine by the lower intake manifold with 4 bolts right in the top, used grade 8 bolts for extra strength.

your over stressing...

throw a bolt in the front right and back left in the heads where header bolts go... and pick it up... ive done it numerous times w. iron heads(not aluminum tho, but id do it w. them too) or use the accesory holes in the front/back of the heads w. a bolt

yea you have a clear shot onto the fron of the heads at least so id go for front and back. thats how i plan on it when im ready. or if your really worried they make a plate that bolts to the lower intake (helps spread load) used for pulling engines.
