calibrator for new gears?
so I just got my car back from having installed my ford racing 3.73's at the shop, and my speedo is now off (which is a given). I was looking up speedometer calibrators and found a few different ones... what exactly do I need to get my speedo working correctly?
Also, my mechanic said a new fuel pump would help a lot with my car, any recommendations?

RE: calibrator for new gears?
Actually, some mustangs (late 80's- early 90's) had calibrators inline with the speedometer cable rather than a speedo gear change (like certain special editions that recieved a gear change). There was a special speedometer cable with a black box the size of about a 9v battery (maybe a bit bigger) that would reduce the drive by what was needed with the factory drive gear at the end. If another gear change was performed, the entire cable had to be swapped out for a straigt cable, then the proper drive gear added to it.

you can find the gear code and everything for getting speedometer corrected at latemodelrestoration.com and the gear and install kit is normally $20
if you have 6t drive gear you need 18 tooth tranny gear, but most mustangs with the 3.73 need the 21 gear for tranny
surprising that when got the gears put in they did not tell you or recommend it, and also from the place where you bought them, that would be an easy sell to anyone buying gears

a 190lph pump would probably be sufficient but your going to need a adjustable regulator with it. do you have any plans for mods like h/c/i ?

I believe he said when he put a new pump on his sons 5.0 it woke it up a bit, but who knows maybe I heard him wrong lol. I dont think my car is lacking on fuel being delivered but idk maybe it is.. or maybe itll be more responsive atleast.
And this is probably a pretty 'noobie' question, but what is the I in the h/c/i? Im assuming its heads/cam/?. and yes as soon as I get the money I plan to get a few more goodies, including a cam, etc.
so to get the speedo showing right I need a drive gear and the 21 tooth? Im pretty sure it had 2.73's on it when I got it, 'cause when driving it today for the first time with the 3.73's, that sh*t rips!! <insert stupid grin>
on another note, I have only had my car for a couple months, so I apologize if Im asking one of those 'everybody should know this' questions =p
I appreciate the help!
