Default Advancing timing? & fox body computer upgrade?

I was browsing last night and came across a few posts on other forums about advancing the timing on an 87 to 95 5.0, as well as installing a fox body mass air computer into 94 and 95 gt's. Any one have any insight on either of these and how they are done? Worth it?

to advance timing..pull the spout and bump base a few degrees no more than 14 to 15 max base and at that you'll have to run premium gas or it may ping..as far as the ecm swap on a 94-95....Pro-M I believe sells a complete wire harness conversion kit that allows you to use a 89 -93 ecm that is mass air capabile and I believe when I looked into this a while back...you'll need a 87-93 dizzy with tfi module on the side and a accompanying IAC too and there may be one or two more things too...contact PRO-M and the guy there will tell you all you need

the sn-95 ecm's were very sensitive to performance changes such as cams and were programmed like such to comply with tighter emissions laws that were put into effect at the time...using a mass air fox ecm allows a greater variety of cam swaps without the ecm's sensitivity to overcorrect for such changes inturn causing drivibility/idle issues

Where does one find this spout and how do you know when you are at the 14 to 15?

The spout is right by the distributor on the end of a small group of wires, if you are not sure how to tell where the timing is, it might be a good idea to have someone who has done it before help you, then you will know.

You'll need a half inch socket, a timing light and a Chilton's manual. And yes, advancing the timing can be abig hp upgrade or a tiny one, depending on where the base timing is set now. Mine was set at 6* from the factory, and I gained what felt like 15-20 hp advancing it to 14*. Then summertime came around, and I quickly learned that 14* was too much for my car. 11* is about all she'll take in hot weather, so I leave it set there. Everyengine is a little different in this regard. Good luck.

YEA WHEN DONE RIGHT YOU CAN FEEL A DIFFERENCE JUST AS TWISTED STATED, BUT I WOULD SUGGEST GOING WITH HIGHER OCTANE FUEL
