RE: sbc in my 88 stang
Why waste time with a swap when your goal is a 12 or 14 second car. I guarantee you it will be easier to get your car running properly instead. 12's will require some moves but a proper running Mustang is already a 14 second car.
The only time I could see a swap worth while. Buy a rolling fox for cheap. You already have another engine. The car is going on Pinks.
As for making more power? You are comparing "your car" which is not running right to another engine that will require a bunch of fabricating to swap into the car.
Any equally built engine. GM, Dodge vs Ford will be within 20-30 hp. In fact, every FAIR comparison usually ends up with 340 Dodges with a slight advantage over Ford which is slightly more powerful than the Chev.
That is not a $$ vs $$, but strictly similar engines compared.
Equal cubic inch, cam size, compression, stock head etc.

RE: sbc in my 88 stang
my 88 has a c6 in it and it wasnt that bad to do, just has got to have a shortened driveshaft and a 5 speed crossmember and a speedo cable out of a truck to match the length. the pipes also will have to be custom fitted to go around the tranny pan b/c the c6 is soo much wider than the AOD
