Default 302 mexican block

i was checking out the stickies, i found out that ive got one in my 94 GT and i was wondering what was different from the regular 302 blocks

im pretty sure the heads arnt e7's and the springs are better, and i heard a rumor that everything internal is forged...but idk

no the internals arent forged. the pistons maybe(brainfart) the block itself isnt thicker in the main webbing and the main caps are bigger.

The block is thicker in the cylinder walls allowing it to be bored over up to .60 over. It was made in Mexico of course and back in the day it was referred to the poor man's boss block. Your choice was that or a A4 block, thank God for technology!!

how did you end up with one in your 94?

its just a thicker block..... stronger main caps (they never break anyways, its the front of the block ABOVE the first main cap that snaps) and all around a thicker casting. they are supposed to have a higher nickle content too.

i was reading up on it, and ive got no idea how ive got a mexican block in my 94, if i understand it, they were only in the first 302 motors

mabye im wrong, the pictures in the stickies section wouldnt work for me, but based on what i read on the internet and what isawwhen i tore my engine downi think it is

someone musta did some motor work before you bought the car, cause the mexicalli is old..... come to think of it that would mean you should have a flat tappet cam, a 28 oz balancer, and a 2 piece rear main seal too
