TKO VS T56

TKO VS T56
Which is better for what applications?
I'm going to be Road Racing / Rally Racing so I need close gears, not so worried about off the line speed I just don't want the motor to drop 3k when i shift from 1 to 2. TKO's are expensive for there age and the fact that there 5 speeds. The T56's are available for about the same price and have the available 6th gear so i don't need to worry about trailering it with 3.73 rear gears and the "Viper" speck gear ratio will be preference for my power range and there will be some slow corners that I will need to shift into first so i don't bog the motor down and loose tons of time.
What's your opinions and what application were you running them in.
Lets use this format
Car (Incas it's not a Mustang)
Motor, (HP, Torque)
Transmission (gear ratios if you have them)
Rear Gear
Car's App (Drag only, weekend warrior, Road Racing, All of the above)
Your Story
1932 Ford Roadster
LS1 (347 CID) 340ish HP and 300 FPT
T56 F-body "Viper Speck" 2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00, .74, .50
Corvette Rear 3.09
Hot Rod Road racer, Auto X and DD
Close Ratio was little to no use because of the rear gear ratio, Dana 36 gears are expensive. The little car would do 70MPH in 1st, I had it up to 148MPH in 4th once but the car started to come off the ground and I got scared. I ran a 01 GT mustang from a roll once, he "Claimed" 300 HP Shot-o-NOS. 60 on the high way i went into 2nd smoked the tires and pulled him until the radar detector went off. good hard pulls because the car never came out of the power range and that was with a stock clutch.
Thanks

RE: TKO VS T56
They sell TKOs with a shorter 5th gear (.82 or something like that) which would be decent for road racing. It would stink for highway driving though, which is where the 6 speed would be good. I say if you are driving it on the streets a lot I would probably go with a 6 speed.
One thing to keep in mind though is that you will have to do a bit of modding to keep a Mustang stable at 170+, which is possible with a .80 or so top gear.

Price on a T56 IS a little lower for me. I know where there are 2 "cores" that need a rebuild that i can get either of them for $500.00 and I can rebuild them here, it's not too hard just time consuming. I've never seen a TKO around here for cheep, not even a core and most of the mustang guys down this way are running Automatics because of there bracket racing classes. But the shorter 5th is a plus, I don't know if I'll ever get going fast enough in a Rally to need it even at .84, but gas mileage is still a big plus. Any one else have any comments / experience

That would be fun but i don't think this little 302 will ever be able to push this baby that fast.

what do you mean tko's are expensive for there age, there only a few years old. IMO 6spds are a waste, get a road race TKO so it'll have a short 5th gear
