the plug was a lil black. and no its not getting 40 psi thats why they make regulators for it. they are no vac lines to anything. the msd distributor has mech advance. i turned the fuel **** on the carb up then my car wouldnt start turned it back down and started fine

btw, those screws have little to no effect on the lean/rich condition of the motor once your a few 100 rpms off idle.

how long has it done this, have you changed anything? you are still burning fuel when your exhaust valve opens, sounds like timing to me.

If the timing is advanced too far, it will run hot.

If the mixture is too lean, it will run hot.

Could be either one or a combination of both.
