What Gears should i get

RE: What Gears should i get
gearing is all based off what you want to use the car for how much power you want to make and how your going to make the power...
3.73s are very common for blower cars and N/A set ups
but u want a slightly longer gear for a turbo set up (if you have boost lag) turbos tend to jump into the power band suddenly causing traction loss where as N/A and supercharged cars enter the powerband more gradualy

just FYI they were installed wrong

I just got 3.73s in my car 94 GT. I upgraded from 2.73s, so there is a pretty significant difference. It's a shame they whine, though. I highly suggest 3.73s

premature wear mostly, depends on how bad the whine is... more than likely they'll last till u start making decent power...
and the once they whine they always whine isn't entirely true, depends on how long its beet that way

Well it's only when the car is slowing down, not under acceleration. I don't know a lot about gears or rear ends, so I dunno if that makes a difference. For the most part the whine seems pretty quiet, but sometimes it's loud as hell.
So OP, make sure the guy installing your gears knows what he is doing [:@]

lol generaly the little mom and pop shops do the best work... stealerships car just that take ur money and when something wrong sucks to be us.... the most common rear gear installation problem is improper backlash or wrong bearing preload which is very easy to get wrong sadly alot of mechanics don't know what turning torque is
