Default 2.3 to 5.0l help?

so i live in ontario canada where standard foxbody mustangs are really hard to come by and i came across a 1990 lx hatchback 4cyl 2.3l for a really cheap price. I have a cousin who has a 5.0 lx engine of the same year but the body of his car has wasted away with the engine still in mint. This is such a newbie question but i was wondering if it wud be possible to fit his 5.0 engine in place of the 2.3l engine?or hell would it fit any 5.0 engine?

if someone could help me with this asap it wud b greatly appreciated or else im gonna have to settle for a 5.0 1984 firebird ...oh and sorry of i put this on the wrong forum

use the search function. this is a pretty easy swap. you need the engine wire harness ecm and fuel lines. if the other car is junk i would recomend using the rear end and front brakes as well as springs.

the swap will fit just fine!!! if you have a donor car....it'll be alot easier.....if you are gonna be fuel injected.....then you'll have to swap harnesses but it's not all that bad......it'll be a lengthy prokect but you can accomplish it with the complete donor car

Get'er did[8D]. I'm in Ont too, and yes mint fox's arenot easy to find. They just rot to shyt *****, and then its game over. I did my conversion last winter with my cuz, and it wasn't as bad as I thought. It took a good month or so, but once I was done I was like a little kid at christmas, I couldnt beleive I had a 5.0 lol. My car is carbed, so it was pretty easy in my case. This site helped me a bunch...

ya if my cousin agrees, i'll have a donor car no prob. Hes stored his 300hp mustang in his garage for over 6 years and bought 2 cars since then. So he hasnt driven it since then. The body of my cousins lx is in pretty bad shape, the trunk is pretty much a giant rust hole. So I see no problem with him selling me the engine. When i said id have to settle for a 5.0 firebird i meant that id have to buy a totally different car. But anyway wish me luck on landing the 2.3...

Thanks for all the help, if I land the car I'll let you guys know how it goes. and wow thanks for that site chad

Noooooooo!!!! Thats no fun at all[:@]. Keep your eyes open for a decent 4cyl body, and ****** it up. There are 2 I know of in the London area, one an '86 Mercury Capri, and the other is a white notch. Not too sure about the Merc, but I'm sure its for sale. About the info, noooooo probski, thats what the site is for. Thepeople on here know they're shyt, and have helped me out a bunch. Good luck on the hunt!
