Default installing headers... help!


i am intalling headers on my car myself. i took out the factory driver side one with just by removing the sparkplugs. I am trying to put in the equal length one and they are not going in. what do have I have to remove to make it easier... I dont want to remove something that I really dont have to

eh its kinda hard, for my friend with his 347 we had to jack the engine up a little bit in the car to slide them down but they are longtubes

headers are really hard to put on but its possible. make sure you align the holes properly so you dont cross thread the the head threads.... i speak from personal experience.[:@]

there is not much you can move out of the way. just bolt them to your H pipe then secrue them to your heads. its a hard task but stick with it, what your doing is NOT easy!

i would hook the h-pipe up after i got the headers bolted onto the heads

i beg to differ, headers are extremely easy to install, although the type of header may increase the difficulty but not to the level of really hard, more like time consuming.

in your case i would say just jack up the motor a tad and they should go in. equals are a lil harder than unequals. unequals just drop in

equal length are the same difficulty level as long tubes imo

i drop the h-pipe and hook that up later

removing the smog gear helps ALOT especially if you completely dump it

chances are you will have to unhook the fan and shroud so you can jack it up a bit, long tubes probably will require motor mount replacement or you'll bump on the frame rail

a little bit of time, not too bad though on either one
