verts floor pans are different then a hatch or coupe. actually the 93cobra r carried some of the same braces that are on a vert. [useless info] yes verts are heavier and need some more strengthening but they still can be made fast

RE: coupe and convertible ????????'s
i have an 89 convertible. the subframe braces are a must for them. last night i rode with a friend in his 93 hatchback. he has no braces or anything like that and i thought mine felt more stable than his.
to me weight wasnt that much of an issue. i dont plan on launching mine to a 10 secong 1/4 or anything. i wanted something that could be a daily driver, look good, and be able to play in every now and then.

If you plan on buying a stang and immediatly converting to drag...buy a coupe.
If you want to have fun and like your windows open...buy a convertible.
I have a convertible that is completly stock. Yes it is has a LOT of flex. The top can be replaced at your descresion. Usually is if it is torn is when most replace. I want to replace mine only becuase it looks a little old. I don't think it was installed right either.
I have read that the convertibles are a little heavier than coupes only because of the extra reinforcing that needed to be added because of no top. But then again my mustang registration reads 3400lbs which is stock weight right?
If you do get a convertible plan on spending money to tighten it up: Subframe connectors are a must since convertibles are known to sag in the middle causing major problems if no attention is brought to them. Things like the floor pan could crack or break causing daylight to shine through the floor. Seen it in a friends...and don't like it. But he did drag it causing more chassis twist than normal driving.
I haven't gotten anything to stiffen mine up but that is a higher priority for me than say an exhaust.
For me I love my convertible. Squeaks, pops and all.
