I would recommend you do not worry about dyno numbers. If you have a healthy shortblock, there are a million ways to bump it up in performance, one of the easiest and most reasonable pricewise is Jay Allen. One of his cams and a set of Canfields(they come with his spec springs on them already saving you money), new quality lifters and whatever intake he recommends(don't know if you are carbed or injected). He has pretty decent package pricing and his support is excellent. That being said there are very few peoples advice on the internet that I take so seriously I will go spend a bunch of money based solely on it. I suggest you either read up about him and his rep, or do the easy way and simply call him and see what he says.

Since your not used to the mustang game just yet, but once you get your feet wet youll
be hook for sure, but anyway i would go and buy the holley systemax 11 kit or edlebrock kit and throw it on the 302 shortblock and letter fly, i heard buying these kits and keeping the stock cam would give you around 356hp if you jump up to the xtreme energy 274 cam they say its good for 374hp, good luck

yea, im more leaning tword the 351w, that way at 350hp the block isent even noticing it.

it would be cheaper in the long run too, becase once i want to bump up the power, it would be pretty easy.

its a 89 lx with some mild mod's but nothing amazing.

im not going to really add anything to it till the end of summer or so, this summer im focusing on finding a reliable shop to build me a powerful bullet proof 5speed.

then next year ill go for broke and get more power out of it.

are dyno tunes useless on my set up?

so far this is what i can TELL the car has (when i bought the car it did not have a list of the mods)

professional products typhoon intake, 70mm bbk throttle body, and spacer, stock mass air sensor, bbk cold air intake, light weight pulleys, 3point strut bar on towers and firewall, cobra heads (or valve covers?) chrome EVERYTHING under the hood (including thouse expsive radiator hoses) aftermarket aluminum radiator, aluminum drive shaft(not confermed yet), shift kit, and "internal work" said this one shop that clamed they did $2000 in work to the AOD tranny.
weld racing drag light weight wheels, bf goodrich radial t/a's rubber. and im sure im forgetting a few things

Agreed. I'm partial to 351's because i have one. I would suggest a 351 block, it will be cheaper than buying a stroker kit for a 302. With the 351 you have a lot more room for building it up, you can always stroke the 351 to as much as 427 down the road when you feel like 350hp is slow. And also the 351 is capable of handling much more power before you have to worry about blowing the block in comparison to the 302. I would not worry about if it is roller or not. Alot of folks will spend a few hundred bucks to convert a non roller to a roller. A well built non roller with a big cam and lots of duration will put a hurting ona roller engine, and if springs are good you dont have to worry about valve float as much with non roller. And my suggestion is to carb it, tuck the wires and have a nice engine bay.Kinda like mine.

i was thinking of going carb, but ive heard at my altitude (5000+ft above sealevel) that a carb is going to be off all the time.

thats why i was leaning more tword EFI so it could modiffy it a little when it needs too.

as far as a 351w, do you guys recomend the junk yard truck/car route, or just buying a crate engine?

reliable 4.6 or 5.4 based but more expensive. so i suggest 5.8 forged internals and a blower down the road

windsor swap is my 2 cents, seen stock windsor bottom endhold up for years under extream abuse and underload in my buds truck, it sees a trailor with junk cars on it most of the time its running and sees the truck pulls a couple times a year full out 6200 rs all the way down the track. Seemed pretty reliable to me so I went with the 351 but with a bit more mods [sm=smiley20.gif].
