Default Adjusting TPS

Hey guys, hows it goin? Ok check this out....so I go to adjust my TPS cuz my car was idling all over the place....so I hooked up the meter and it read 84 I'm like WTF? Should be at 98 so I rotate the sensor clockwise and the idle rose to like 1000-1100 RPM....but when I turned it all the way like maxed out it only read 91-92 on the meter....Im like how do I get to 98?? Its maxed.....LOL

Oh and meanwhile if the car is just idleing if I turn the wheel it will stall the car out??? What the hell.....ha

Any help would be appreciated....thanks

Default RE: Adjusting TPS

yeah you need to auger the screw holes outa bit to get more movement.

i believe your issues are not tps though, you should reset the idle , redo the tps, and then clear the computer and possibly have to start over again. just pop the neg cable for about 20 minutes and the computer will clear itself. if the car will not idle w/in 100 rpms w/ the iac unplugged you have most likely a vac issue....start looking for it

you might try cleaning the iac and seeing what happens

and go from there, i believe you probably have vac issues, check all over, the plastic lines get very brittle and break real easy.

here is the best link for the best info i have ever seen as far as iac and idle issues.

lots of reading but well worth it, and i think you'll cure your problems

Thanks Bob, I just ovaled out holes got it to 98 now waiting for comp to re-set....IAC are good and clean....I checked for vac. leaks with carb spray....but no luck? Dont have access to a smoke machine....the vac lines "seem" to be ok...I checked and re-checked cant count how many times....but why do you think the car dies when I turn the steering wheel? Weak Alt? Or? Or dare I say there is a vac. leak I cant find...haha oh yeah I was thinking for a bit might be the fuel pump...but its got 35psi...it is a stock pump though?? GT40 crate motor old one iron heads.....24# inj. and mass air....all that stuff...nothing to crazy
