Default belt/pulley question

hello everyone, im currently in the process of converting my 87 302 over to carb, i removed the AC pump, smog pump and PS pump. i plan on only running with the alt, crank pulley and water pump. my question is could i use the stock 87 water pump? also what kind of belt should i use? and do i need to use any eliminator pulleys? thank you for the help

you can still use the stock water pump pulley and there are alt kits out there to make the alt adjustable if that's the only accessory you will be using and just go to the parts store and pull belts until you find the exact match.. I've done that once or twice in front of napa before

was talking to a friend of mine, he said hes done the following as far as a belt tensioner goes. instead of using an adj alt bracket, he took stock belt tensioner spring out, drilled out the bolt and used a chassis bolt to make it a manual adj. i think this is what he said, cant remember everything. anyone ever hear of this? thanks for the help
