Got My New Heads !

RE: Got My New Heads !
The cam is a Hydrallic roller with 252/ 252 duration @0.050, 600/620 lift with a 110 LSA.
I'm swapping the solid roller springs out for my AFM Hi-rev hydralic springs. The springs they come with have 225lbs on the seat which is a little to much for my cam.
I think the spings i'm putting on should hold up very well. They allowed me to spin my motor past 7200rpms, all with the stock lifters. AFM claims these springs will hold to 8000+ with no lifter or valve float.

Also, this is a dumb question but what would be a better suited intake for my application. The trickflow box intake or the R-series ?
I have both but don't know which one to use. I like the upper RPM power and looks of the box plenum but the R-Series plenum will give a little more torque and still hold up at high RPM.

I think the box would be better for that kind of rpm. Technology sure has come a long way with valve springs, that's alot of weight jumping around in there at 8000 rpm. What transmission are you using? I see the G Force T5 in your sig, is that the syncronized or dog ring? What clutch are you using also? Just my opinion, but did you consult AFR about milliing those heads? I would think shrinking the combustion chamber that much would shroud the valves some.

I took my heads in this morning so he could figure out the demensions/specs of the heads and psitons and tell about how much it will be to mill the heads and cut the pistons. Well I just heard from him about 10 minuets ago and he said if the heads are milled to 51cc then the pistons would need to be cut 0.100" on the intake and 0.050" on the exhaust to be safe. He wants $30.00 pre pistons and $200.00 to mill the heads. THATS $440.00. He said that if I would put the heads on with the factory 58cc chambers the valves would clear no problem.
Do you think going from a 2.02 valve to a 2.08 would matter at all if the 2.02 valve clears with no problems.

Personally, I don't think you'll see that much benefit from going to 14:1 from 12:1 by milling the heads. Those are great heads to start with and 12:1is a good bit of compression as it is. I feel thesame aboutgoing to a bigger valve, those are great heads right out of the box and you are putting them onwhat sounds likea good high rpm shortblock. Are you still using a stock block?

Have you run it on the dyno with those heads? What kind of times and mphare you running with it now? With that cam and compression I bet that thing is awesome. I wouldn't get carried away trying to improve on a great product. Slap those bad boys on there and see what happens.
