how does an ect actually work and how does it affect the performace of a 94 gt? say the wires were crossed cuz the connector broke off and they were just kinda stuck on there but possibly not on the right way, could this cause any probs?

what is the problem you are having??? try running a koeo/koer test and the ecm will tell you if there is a problem......but a ect not working can cause ecm to remain in open loop and run on the rich side...ect ect...

That is a sign that something is wrong with it, the system sees a failure, and since it uses its input to control the fan, it leaves it on all the time to protect the engine from his ECT blindness. Run a DIY KOEO Self-Test and you'll be able to confirm it. Regarding how it works, you might want to check the info here.
