Default cleveland or windsor?

since my 93 is in pieces and i waiting on parts. i got to thinkin of what i should do with the 88 i picked up a couple weeks back. the body is straight as can be besides the bullet holes in the hood lol. but the motor is crap and most of the wiring is gone, whats left is cut and what not. i do have an extra motor and wiring harness but i dont wanna go through the hassle of building another efi motor. i cant leave anything stock . so i have a windsor and a cleveland, both carbed. i was thinkin about throwin one in it just to have somethin to mess around in. which one should i use? and mainly which would be most difficult?

Personally, I would stick with the Windsor, simply because of the ease of finding parts for it. Windsor part are a lot more common, and there are a lot more folks readily available that can offer assistance with them.

About the only thing I like about the Cleve's are the heads

You could build a Cleavor Now you're talking

But seriously, I would stay the course of the Windsor, just my opinion.. Good luck at any rate, have fun

IMO, I would stick with Windsor just for the parts selection and cost.

I have a serious soft spot for the Clevelands, esp the 4Vs. Build a Cleveland right and it is hard to beat, will rev like crazy and pull and pull. You would need a special set of headers for sure, the usual reinforcements to frame(subframe connectors/torque box fix) and there are getting to be quite a few nice heads out there if you want to get serious, CHI is making killer heads/intakes but they are not cheap!

Yeah, a W is prolly a better route to go on cost/parts, and easier if it's your first build. I wouldn't build a Cleve unless I already had one.

+1 on CHI heads for a Cleve, that'd be a pricey route but make rediculous power.

It's aleady been said, the Windsor is has many more parts available and they are alot cheaper. But a Cleveland is much more unique and will make more power because of those heads, revs for days and has a stronger block. The Cleveland does weight more, but not by much. It's very very much like comparing a 2v 4.6L and 4v 4.6L. If you have the money, go Cleveland.

I have a Cleveland, so my opinion is pretty one-sided lol

Clevelands won't necessarily make more power beause of the heads. Many of the aftermarket aluminum heads for Windsor family engines outflow even 4V Cleveland heads, and do so with smaller ports.

Iwas speaking in terms of stock vs. stock.
