Default t-stat problems...wierd!

ok i just slapped on an edelbrock rmp upper and lower along with 1.6 roller rockers and a new cam this weekend. car runns real strong and on the freeway this morning my temp was running at about 190-195deg then i got on it on the freeway and my temp kept jumping really fast from 190 to 250 and kept jumping back and forth. anybody know why its doing this?

on another note... when i took my stock manifold off it had no t-stat in it what so ever... is it ok to run no t-stat during these colder months?

No, it's not ok to run without a thermostat. You need it to control engine temp, especially in the colder months.

Air pocket in cooling system, bad thermostat ot a partially clogged radiator.

Did you burp all of the air out of the system before replacing the radiator cap?
