im not sure, but i do know that my cousin sold his late 80s 4 banger with over 300,000 miles and it still ran good when he got rid of it.

Depends on what you want to do with it and how much it is.For pretty much everyday use and if I don't have to drive out of town to go to work I would prolly draw the line with 160,000 or so. But I am ok with high milage cars as long as I have another one just in case. But with 160,000 miles I wouldnt pay more than 3000 for a perfect bodied car. But that does have alot to do with the fact that changing the engines in them are pretty simple and cheap.

Are your plans to keep it a 4 cyl? Mileage depends on the maintenance of the car. If auto, put it in gear, hold the brake and floor the gas to see if it stalls, take the oil cap off to see if there is a lot of sludge inside the oil cap. These are justa couple of things you can do. You just need to drive it and make sure it shifts good, no knocking or weird engine noises. You should not pay anywhere near 3k for a 4 cyl. I sold a 93 coupe 4 cyl in excellent shape for 2k a few months ago.

The only 4 banger I would pay $3000 for and be happy about it would be an SVO. But I am a cheap skate lol so yea I have a hard time paying that for a 5.0 unless it has parts that make up that price.

I don't think I'd buy anything with over 160,000 miles. If I did, I'd plan to rebuild it REAL soon..

If your going to a 8 cyl. then i guess the miles dont matter, lol. You made need to upgrade susp and drivetrain eventually. Just having a rust free straight body is worth more than the $500 you paid.

Exactly my point. If you are gonna swap motors that means you will also be doing some suspension work which means new bushings. A good body is all you need to look for.
