Okay need Help with a FEW things
1- this morning i get up decided to inspect my plugs becuase the car has a miss, plugs are pretty shoddy lookin so i throw em back in figure lemme go to auto store get new ones...
start car it starts but idles rough then dies..
starts again rough idle DIES
Starts again rouge idle, im giving it gas but its making popping noises so i stop
so im like oo wtf, somone suggests new cap rotor wires plugs
so i take my fathers car,
get all of hte above...
First off, what is hte proper Gap on the plugs?
I put everything in, and like a moron i reverse the wires, have the plug side on teh dist. ect.
so i take em off, and now the plugs are covered in oil where hte wires were, i have no idea how
so i wipe em down
take the old wires put em on...
and at this point the car is just Cranking endlessly till the battery dies...
Now, i check for top dead center of piston 1
find out my whole distrubter is pretty much backwards, so i put everything how it should be...
go to start and still just cranking
so now im thinking
1- No Spark, how do i test for this
2- cyl flooded, what do i do? already did the switch in the hatch area
been working on this car since 12pm and its now 9pm... can't get the mother ****en piece of **** to start!
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Okay need Help with a FEW things
you didn't remove or move the distributor did you to do a tune up???..now you have me confused on what you did and what your line of thinking was ??..if you moved distributor.. set it back where it was and install wires in correct order on the cap and hold accelerator to the floor to enable the clear flood mode and hopefully it'll start if you set all settings back to spec

How many threads do you need for the same problem in one day?

I already told you how to check for spark! Are you even reading anyone's replies?

Everything is new...
PLugs Cap Rotor
i never touched the Dist. but the way hte previous owner had it, was pretty much *** backwards from stock, where Cyl #1 should go is on the complete opposite side of the dist. figured this out by testing Cyl #1 for TOP DEAD CENTER
i know its somthing so simple!!! can't seem to figure it out though
there is a switch in the back of the hatch my cousin said, its a button you press it and it cuts out the fuel being sent to the engine, and he said if its flooded this should help clear it out
car has been sitting for an hour or so now with the battery unplugged so im gonna go out once more to check it, if not i guess im calling my mech tomorrow

RE: Okay need Help with a FEW things
I just thought of something....
Someone could have put your distributor in 180 degrees out, and just moved the wires to "fix" it.
Try putting #1 where #6 is supposed to go, then continue around the cap in the correct order, according the the new #1 location.
1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
So move the wires on the distributor like this:
Distributor Position=Cylinder
1=6
3=5
7=4
2=8
6=1
5=3
4=7
8=1
It will either be really pissed off that way (shouldn't hurt anything) and won't run at all, or it will run perfect and problem discovered.
