The pistons are old TRW L2249N
those are my old pistons, a word to the wise and this is coming from someone who send grenades piston/rod assemblies to ARP for research....

those pistons are HEAVY, and because of that your limited to your maximum RPM. if your using STRONG rods and the BEST 3/8 ARP bolts (not just the waveloc's, but the better wavelocs that cost 2x more) then you should be able to spin it up pretty high.

i used to spin mine with a stock crank, stock rods with 5/16 arp waveloc bolts to 7k redline (well, around 6800 shift points) but one day idling in park it just snapped the crank in 10 pieces, so............

btw, my cam (and mjr's, we have the same grind) was rated for 3200-5800 with float @ 6500 but with 120 lbs of seat pressure they never seemed like they were floating to me. car still had nut off the line, but it really started to come alive at about 2000-2500 so you cant always go by the numbers on the card

Those pistons are heavy but, Removing the stress risers off the rods, polishing the crank, using lightweight rist-pins and the chromemoly rods bolts canceled out the over weight. The total rotating assembly weight is accually 200 grams lighter than factory weight.

BTW: The rods bolts are the BEST rod bolts you can buy for the 289/302 rods.
ARP part #ARP 254-6402

The combo last season made 350rwhp and ran 11.50-11.65's @around 117mph (sometimes 118) That was with a full weight LX that weighed 3200lbs with me. It now has 374rwhp but I didn't get a chance to run it yet. It nows weighs 2800lbs dry, and I only weigh 130lbs. If I can make 400rwhp, which is very possible if I switch to this custom cam from Rick Anderson and spin it to 7800rpms I think it just might break the 10's on motor with proper driving, traction and cool air.

He's grinding me a cam that has .510 lift on the intake & exhaust, 248/258 duration @0.050, and a 110/106 split lobe seperation. RPM range on this thing is 3600-7800rpm!!!! Hesaid that I should have no problem gaining 30rwhp switching to his cam even with 510 lift compared to my current 620 lift cam.
Reads like a "low lift version of the N-111 = 248/258 .576"/.576" 110 LSA 106 ICL.... or is it 110 ICL/106 ECL and LSA = 108 ?

No, The LSA is 110 int. / 106 exh.
Its a split lobe seperation cam like the Alphabet cams.

Its a split lobe seperation cam like the Alphabet cams.
In that case the LSA (Lobe Separation Angle) = (ICL + ECL)/2...... or (110+106)/2 = 216/2 = 108. The alphabet cams, like the X-303 I have.... is 107/117...... which makes the LSA = (107+117)/2 = 224/2 = 112 LSA with a 5 degree advance.

Another way of describing it is.... a 108 LSA cam with a 2 degree retard. BTW.... the N-111 is also like that......106 int./114 exh. = (106+114)/2 = 220/2 = 110 LSA with a 4 degree advance....... you may want to check.

So you swapped out a 4.6L DOHC engine, and put in a 306?
