yes it could have an effect on your shifting....shouldnt be "hard" by any means. is your fluid full? whens the last time you replaced the fluid? does shift get easier as your drive it around more? does it grind or just doesnt want to go into geaR?

Yeah it may be the cold. I remember when I was living in NJ, during the winters it was sometimes pretty hard to shift in my truck on those cold mornings since the already thick gear oil was even thicker due to the cold. Sometimes it would even grind slightly going into 3rd on the first shift of the day but everything would smooth out after a couple mins of driving.

my car just hates cold weather and doesnt drive as smooth in it.
once it warms up though, it becomes smooth again.

Did you happen to change your trans fluid recently? If so, did you use atf? T5s don't use gear oil, rather they use atf. If you put gear oil in 'em they are hard to shift, but it's all the time.

Does your clutch engage right off the carpet?

I have had the same issues with my tranny. I am going to change out the chirping throw out bearing, change pilot bearing, put a steel front bearing retainer on,change the fluid to synthetic and put on a new cable, qudrant, firewall adjuster. If this don't fix it, I will rebuild it or go TKO (last resort).

Another issue I was having is when sitting in stop and go traffic or red light, I would put it in neutral and let loose of the clutch (Lazy old FART). When it was time to go it would not go into 1st nor2nd gear, I would have to put it in 3rd then it would slide into 1st with no problem. Frustrating at the least.
