Default intake pipe cooler wrap? any one seen it?

i saw back a few months ago in a musclemustangfastfords mag this cool pack wrap. if i rememberbasically what it does is you can put it a cooler with ice then when you ready to make a run you wrap it around your intake pipe to it will cool down you intake charge. i think it also said it wont get hotter then 80 degrees farhenheit. for some reason though i cant find it any where has anyone else heard of this or know where i can find it. it sort of looks like a ice pack for your shoulder like those giant blue ones i remember the picture. any help would be appreacaited.

I have heard of people puting a bag of ice on there intake before a run so it seems to me like it might work. But i wonder how much?

Air moves so fast at WOT through the intake piping that cooling is not going to factor in.

Just my opinion...

Icing the intake does work not the pipe but the whole plenuim.....as much as 2 tenth.. I had a friend with a corvette who couldn't get lower than 14.o's so I asked him if he had 2 dollars and he said sure but why...I told him to go buy a bad of ice.....we let it set on there for a half hour and after his next run he ran back to me so happy he ran a 13.81......so it works ..mainly in the summer as in the winter the air is already cool and dense

From the datalogsI remember...

I'd have to agree with 5spd GT here...

Cooling the intake manifoldis one thing... cooling the tubing from the filter to the TB will not gain much...

Hopefully you don't laugh too much when you read this (I hope it's not that dumb), but I always thought that it was bad to cool hot things fast (risk cracking things). Is the plenum/intake just not a hot enough part of the engine to worry about it?

Cooling the plenum is a better idea. However, I have seen many guys do this very "trick" and the engine be running, burnout, etc., for a few minutes before the actual race. They seen NO gain.

Now, do you think the intake is going to heat up by then? Yep...

The plenum is so "thick", you are not going to crack it with something that has little surface area as abag of ice.

Just be careful of the placebo effect...

The stock black intake attaracts heat and restricts air.

Fendermount Cold Air Intake Helps out alot. Both in power and cooler air intake.
