10 degrees on the block?? make sure the crank damper is set on 0 and the how to properly stab dizzy is based on a efi/tfi dizzy and uses the tfi m odule as a ref... you must use the vaccum canister on the dizzy as base reference to pointing location and not worry about the little line on the dizzy lining up with the corner of the notch on the block... many a times I found that the line stamped on the dizzy was placed incorrectly/stamped in wrong location.......what you should be more so concerned with is where the dizzy points and that the rotor lines up with #1 on the cap.. cause if your a tooth or two off when you go to start it....to keep it running you may find that the dizzy will be pegged against the intake to get the proper base advance with no room left to retard or advance a few degrees

ok what about this when i start it then shut it off then come back to start it i turn the key to the on position i here a puff like some gas is igniting the car does have a electric fuel pump do i need a regulator
it depends on what pump you have in the car....if it puts out more than 5-7 psi then yes you need a regulator....I have a holley blue pump and have reg set to 5.5 psi 4 to 6 is optimal on a stock to mild engine

then install hold down loosely and have your timing light ready and fire her up and adjust base and see where you end up at.. if final position looks good..tighten her down and roll away!!

Here is a stupid question. The 10 degrees we want is BTC,on the other side of what he has correct? As for the puff you here I have the same issue. How black are your spark plugs?

you dont have the engine lined up right.... bring the time mark to ZERO

also, when setting your timing with the light.... RED = BAD.... GREEN = GOOD... make sure you are on the green number side
