Default Electrical problem?

Hi all, I had a gauge bulb that went out so I removed the gauge cluster to get to it. While the gauge was out I had to move my car for the wife. The car started and idled fine, but when giving it throttle it cut out!! Is this because the gauge cluster is removed or is it a coincidence and something totally different? The car is a 92 LX if it matters. I didn't have time to re-install the cluster and try to see how she runs. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Dave
