Default anyone ever run a 5 gas machine?

my last call (fuel and ignition) i brought my car into lab to run a 5 gas machine on it. my car was putting out some wicked high numbers even for not having cats. my instructor and i were able to tune the carb off the machine but it is still running very very rich. these are the numbers i was blowing out the tail pipes.

idle 1500 2500
HC1181 467 24
CO 4.091.83 .96
CO210.519.40 9.47
O2 1.451.20.88
NOx 0 0 32
A/F13.1614.3214.91

as much as we tried to lean it out the car would idle and run like garbage. one instructor said that i might have an internal vacuum leak but when i did a vacuum test i was pulling 20 in hg so that kinda rulls out a vacuum leak. anyone else have an idea on this one other than not having cats?

no... I know exactly what I'm looking at.. the hc at idle are high.. looks like you need to play with the idle circuit.. do you have a holley carb on it?? how's the power valve if so?? not ruptured is it??.... what's fuel pressure set at??? floats properly adjusted??

well im glad someone else is on the same page as me and yeahi know my HC's are high they are very high.thecarb is about 3 years old holley 600 vacuum secondaries. the power valve was swapped to a bigger one the one that came in the carb was too small and held the carback like you wouldnt believe. tried messing with the idle circuit every time we would try to lean it out a little the car would stumble and run like ***. as for the fuel pressure i couldnt tell you dont have a gauge on it but i have a holley red fuel pump running the fuel to the carb and it doesnt have a pressure reg which i am gunna have to get so i can run my return line back to the tank again right now its just sitting there plugged up at the tank. the floats are non adjustable which i kick myself over all the time so im swapping out the bowls for the adjustable ones when i have some extra cash.

you might want to try a carter afb ..aka edelbrock carb!! they are very tuner friendly with the calibration kit...easy as adjusting mettering rods and air bleeds adjustable and step up springs to hold meteering rods up in rich or let them down to lean it out....... also floats are adjustable.. not as easy as holleys and the red pump puts out 7 psi un regulated I have the blue and have pressure set to 5.5 so I'd dial your pressure around to 4.5 to 5 psi

I dont know dick about carbs.... so any input I would have, is pretty useless

However.... me and a few friends were able to get this guys dodge ramcharger to pass emissions by "seafoaming" the engine.... but not using seafoam....

methanol based windshield washer fluid.....

ran about a quart through (1/2 pint or so at a time) right through the top of the carb, at about 2500rpms.

after we were done, the trunk ran MINT and passed with flying colors
