Question

I always wanted to know about this...When I bought my car from the previous owner he said not to take off this Black, heat resistant material that he had installed on the underside of the hood. What does it do exactly...Do any of you guys have it on your hoods? I want to take it off cause its not the most attractive looking thing...But I remember he strictly said not to

it helps keep motor warm in winter before full warm up. i took it off mine when i got a different hood. remove it if you care to

it really does two things - one is to insulate the hood from the engine heat which may help keep the paint from fading and two it serves as a sound insulator to hold down engine noise inside the car.
