ok so my car has this thing it does i think its the carb.
what happens is when im driving it it will start to short out (its carburated) the rpm's shoot up and down then it dies. it starts back up does it agian.
the way i fix it is by just slamming my foot down and hitting like 100 then go back to 60 or so then it seems to do fine.

before i thought it was overheating and the thermostat was just shutting it down. so i took it out but uit still does it. (and now that the thermostat is out it stays at around 200 degrees before i took it out it would hit 240 then just shut off)


so please what could be causing this?

my only guess is that its because of the cheap *** gas but ive always use premium?

way to go blow that new motor sky high[&:]....check the fuel filter and or it may have a float issue with the carb or dirt in a passage.....has the carb been rebuilt lately??

Sence the car is on a Carb it can really only be 2 things. The carb needs to be rebuilt or you got a fuel issue. The only thing that turns me away from the fuel filter issue is the fact that the carb would regulate it and now allow too much to dump in reving the motor. So. I'm guessing you have a bad diaphragm in your carb, a bad jet or float.

no the carb hasnt been rebuilt latley and the engine has an easy 600 on the rebuild so[:-]
but if it was the filter wouldnt it do it all the time? it only does it every now and then mainly after i put gas in it.
