355s VS 373s for daily driving
Do you do a lot of commuting? Just heading down into Bellevue it wouldn't make all that much of a difference, but if you're heading up to Everett or down to Kent then the ~8% in gear difference might add up over time.
It also depends on what your plans are for the car - if you're just going to do gears and exhaust, go for the 3.73 for sure (my opinion). But if you're going to drop serious coin into making power, get the 3.55's - the difference in ratio will be made up in fewer shifts.

Hey guys,

this is my first post to the board, I have been reading for a long time though. I am a front wheel drive guy, so this is unfamiliar to me. I know with my retta, I went from the stock 3.51 tranny to the W41 3.94 tranny, and it dropped my E/T's almost a full second. Now granted I was only driving a low fourteen second car, is there any point in your e/t'sin which a tighter gear ratio is less desired.

I really don't understand how this whole gearing thing works. I have been reading for a long time about this stuff, and it still doesn't make sense to me. How come you can change the gears in your rear and, and not in your tranny. is there somthing I am missing. I am pretty good with this type of thing, I just don't understand this part about RWD.

you can change them in the rear end cause it's easier than opening the tranny. besides, changing them in the tranny would only affect one gear (so you'd have to replace each one for the same effect as the rearend gear), as the rearend is affected by all gears and only necessitates the replacement of one gear.

did that make any sense?

I know that, just bare with me. so there is two different sets of gears, between your tranny and your rear end then?? or is there only one gear in the rear end, like the same concept as a final drive??
