Default Exhaust Leak

I was just wondering what you guys think i should do as far as just taking my car to a exhaust shop and welding up the leaks or go all out and get some new exhaust? She sound good from the back but right where the headers connect i hear leaking especially when i drive past a wall, car, or something i get an echo off of[:@]. As for what kind of exhaust is on there i'm not even sure, she just has some flowmaster 40's series on there. Stock headers too i believe but not 100% on that either, doesnt say anything on them. So what would you guys suggest?

the leak is probably just comeing from where the headers connect to the mid pipe last time i took my headers off i had a tough time getting the collector to set properly into there, take it to a shop and have them diagnose your leak then make an educated decision as to what is economical for you, they may just loosen the midpipe ansd tighten it up again and prob fixednever know.

Before you spend any money just pop the hood and see if you can tell where the leak is comming from. You might just need to tighten the header to the head or like 88 said to the collector. If you can hear it while driving car you should be able to hear where its comming from. If you cant tell exactly where the leak is get a few feet of fuel line. Stick one end in your ear and use it as a stethoscope to listen to where the leak is (just dont burn yourself).

on a 1990 Stang, the exhaust system is probably pretty well rusted out by now and most shops won't try to weld on old pipes so I would suggest you start looking for a new system.
