Default axle 7.5-8.8 question

are the axles of both rear end interchange able? someone has a 8.8 housing and posi for sale but no axles so i was wondering whether i could re use my stock ones.

the flanges are a little smaller but I have used 7.5 axles in my 8.8 as a temp repair before..but I'd reccommend 8.8 ones for the long run

just look for a drum to drum for sale....i've seen 8.8 w/ 4.10 and 31 spline for $500

you can't build it for that
